Gone are the days when small businesses could advertise in the phone book and rely on word of mouth. In today’s world you have to meet your clients and potential customers where they play in cyberspace. Besides the obvious assumption that everyone is online all the time, there are two main reasons why social media should be a central part of the marketing plan for your small business.
Reason 1:
In today’s modern day, you need to find customers and clients where they play on the internet. They need to see your products, services, and most importantly you as a business owner. Potential customers may not even need your services or products right now, but if you engage you will be the one they recommend or call when they have the need.
Reason 2:
Social media is a mechanism to attract customers and clients to the content on your website and blog. Through your writing they get to know you as an expert in your field. With more people reading your articles and blogs, search engines view your content as more credible and your website and blog posts could rank higher in search results.
But, as a small business owner myself, I know you are probably asking…
How Do I Get Started?
A decent picture, a little time, and a computer is all you need to get started on social media sites. I provide you with the step-by-step guide for Google My Business, LinkedIn, Twitter, and a Facebook Business account.
Over the course of our first several days together we set-up and/or optimize your social media accounts. So even if you already have your accounts set-up, I suggest you take the time to go through the details.
- How to name your account
- How to blend your personal accounts with business accounts.
- When to blend, when not to blend.
- Selecting the right name, picture, and initial information to include.
Not only do I get you set-up quickly, but we also get moving right away. So even if you have some experience (stumbling or with some success), these basic steps will only enhance your efforts.
Still need more help? I am available to individually work with clients. Contact me at jennifer@yoursocialmediahour.com and we can set-up a time to discuss how we can best work together.
